Safe Tanning practices for a beautiful, healthy summer glow

It's common for people to rush out into the sun after months of being cooped up indoors during winter, but if you want to avoid the dark, puffy circles under your eyes that are associated with solar radiation, a little bit of sun at a time goes a long way to give you a beautiful and healthy glow.

Begin tanning 10 minutes at a time for the first few days, and then move up to 20 minutes for the next few days, then 30 minutes and so on. This way, you'll build a good base tan, which is necessary for being in the sun for long periods of time. Also, you'll be allowing yourself to tan without burning and without having to use chemical sun blocks. A good base tan ensures that you can stay outside for longer periods of time without the damaging effects of the sun.

In addition, make sure you have an adequate supply of calcium, Vitamin A and what I refer to as "Vitamin F" (the essential fatty acids that include linoleic acid, linolenic acid and arachidonic acid). All of these in varying combinations are found in foods like: fish liver oil, egg yolks, cream & butter, fish eggs, raw nuts, avocados, animal fat from pastured animals, chlorophyll and cold-processed, unrefined vegetable oils.

Enjoy the summer!
