A Strong Immune System Is The Key
There have always been, and will continue to be viruses. They are part of our lives. The state of our immune system before and during periods of viral outbreaks dictates how our bodies respond to and recover from them.
The importance of the ability to manage our stress and fears, especially during outbreaks and general periods of uncertainty, cannot be understated. We need to begin implementing whatever tools we are drawn to, that help us manage stress, anxiety and fear. These can include breathing practices, meditation, even laughter.… Laughter is one of the easiest, most cost-effective and efficient mechanisms that we have at our disposal. Choosing to laugh during stressful times doesn't mean that we don't take the situation seriously and/or that we disregard common sense and avoid following precautions. Stress has a very profound effect on our immune systems – it keeps the sympathetic (fight or flight) nervous system turned on, not allowing the space for rational decision-making or any “down” time. Laughter turns off the sympathetic nervous system and turns on the parasympathetic nervous system, which allows for relaxation and a level-headed approach to problems. So go ahead – live the comedy that is our human experience! You won’t only start to feel better in the moment, but your immune system will thank you for it!
DID YOU KNOW THAT IN ONLY 30 MINUTES
AFTER INGESTING JUNK FOOD,
PROCESSED FOOD AND SUGAR, YOU LOWER
YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM’S ABILITY TO FIGHT
AND KILL GERMS BY 50%?
· Eat a lot of colorful vegetables, fruits, good oils, and quality proteins instead. Load up on food that has antiviral properties like raw garlic, ginger, curcuma, coconut oil, oregano, pomegranate, medical mushrooms (reishi, chaga, cordyceps, shiitake)
* During flu season, you can chop up 1-2 cloves (only) of garlic, very finely, and swallow these bits without chewing, with water, on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning. You won’t get “garlic breath” and you will reap the amazing anti-bacterial, anti-fungal anti-parasitic and anti-viral properties of this magical herb.
* If you have access to a steam room or sauna, this is wonderful. But, for those that do NOT: During WW2 and the Depression, when medical professionals and supplies were hard to come by, people in various communities world-wide survived upper and lower respiratory infections with the following: Inhaling the steam produced by a pot of boiled potatoes. Viruses do not tolerate temperatures above 113 degrees (F) or dampness. This practice essentially disinfected the respiratory airways and lungs. Before going to bed at night:
1. Scrub and wash several potatoes. Leave the skins (they are very nutrient dense) and cut up the potatoes into large chunks.
2. Boil the potatoes in water until cooked. Use a fork to see when they’re ready. Don’t over-boil them so that they don’t flake apart.
3. Pour off the water and lean over your pot of hot potatoes with a towel over your head. Inhale as deeply as you’re able. Ten-fifteen minutes, or until there’s no more steam is sufficient prophylactically, but if you are fighting infection, use more potatoes so that you can sit for longer and do this several times a day.
The potatoes can be eaten when you’re done, they will not absorb or retain the pathogen.
Updated 5/15/20 *This alternative was suggested by a physician who uses the following method to successfully treat COVID-19 patients:
1. Put 1 tablespoon of baking soda into a big pot and add 1 liter of water. (If using more water,
you need 1 tablespoon of baking soda for every 1 liter of water)
2. Bring the water to a boil. Keep it boiling for 15 minutes and inhale the steam.
This is done 3x/day if symptomatic. It usually takes 1-2 days to eliminate respiratory symptoms. The steam kills the virus and the baking soda acts as a disinfecting agent.
These nutrients can also be supplemented:
· Vitamin D! It is crucial for the immune system! Studies have demonstrated that you should have 100-150 nmol/l of vitamin D in your bloodstream (you can ask for a serum test from your PCP). If you are not supplementing vitamin D, there's a high probability that you are deficient. Take 2-5000 IU of vitamin D each day.
· Vitamin C: use 1000 mg (during flu season) 3x day (the best is liposomal)
· Zinc acetate, zinc gluconate lozenges or zinc picolinate
· Selenium
· Vitamin A for epithelial barrier 5,000- 10,000 IU per day
If you are fighting infection, you can take these at higher doses for three days:
· Vitamin D - depends on your body weight.
· Zinc acetate 15 mg 5-6 times per day (maximum two weeks!) or Zinc picolinate 18-23 mg every 2 hours during wake time (maximum two weeks!)
· Vitamin C 1000 mg every hour for the first 6h then 1000 mg 3 times daily or until bowel tolerance.
· Vitamin A depends on your body weight (high doses only for three days!)
We saw that when patients had significant challenges with COVID-19, it was often because of the cytokine storm (a high inflammatory state). The literature points out that for critically ill patients with sepsis, Vitamin C at 1,5 mg IV every 6h (in total 6g daily) with thiamine and hydrocortisone may help. Patients treated with the vitamin C protocol had an 8.5% death rate while those non-treated had a death rate of 40.4%.
And yet again, Vitamin D is critical! Other potential natural treatment options for sepsis include Curcumin, Quercetin, Boswellia, and Naringin.
Be Well, be Happy!
